An Aero Merlin is a traditional three wheeler in the same vintage vein as the Morgan three wheeler of the 1930s, but with modern efficient running gear and comfort. It is not for a complete car.All kits are built up to special order, and take from 12-16 weeks generally to assemble all components. Please note: the first 4 photos show what can be achieved (wheels and seats have now changed) photo 1 shows a barrelback with current 19 inch splined wheels and hubs, (the beetleback photos show earlier wheels and seats) the remaining 8 photos depict parts from the kit and the chassis/body. Kits are available as beetleback (rounded rear end) and also barrelback (sloping rear end) to which a spare wheel can be attached. Weighs approx 395Kg and at 75BHP has a greater power to weight ratio than the new Morgan. Morgan claim 115BHP, but they are wrong, their engine is approx.
80BHP and their car is 550Kg. A kit is a magnificent way to build a car at your own pace and is a splendid hobby.... If you built anything from Meccano, or Airfix kits in your youth, you can easily build one of these! If you love tinkering with mechanical and electrical things, love motor cycle engines, crave nostalgia, and love being inverted in a biplane.... I did all of the above many years ago, and still do.
I have an aviation background, I'm 66 and thoroughly eccentric, and my clients tend to be like minded people, in fact some are well into their 80s and construct these vehicles! This is what you will be purchasing. The sale will comprise the rights to build the Aero Cycle Car beetleback and barrelback Moto Guzzi powered three wheeled cars, worldwide, plus the following. The main jig is a large flat bed jig over 3m/10ft long, with some smaller jigs.
All patterns for the aluminium components, and all fibreglass moulds. The smaller separate jigs are for manufacturing the front wishbones/a-arms, a jig for locating the front wishbone brackets, a jig for the main swing arm frame and location jig for same, a jig for locating the dashboard attachment hoop. The wishbones/a-arms have their own separate jigs, and the components for these are Tig welded. All laser cut parts have associated drawings, and examples of all items that are laser cut will be included, as will items that are turned on a lathe.A complete beetleback and barrelback chassis are included. A complete set of fibreglass mouldings will be supplied, comprising nose cone, humped scuttle, beetleback rear deck/cover, barrelback rear deck/cover, and a pair of mudguards. A complete set of pre-cut aluminium panels will be included, as will a pair of pre-formed and bent louvred bonnet halves, plus the bending jigs that are used for bending the bonnet halves.
All louvred panels are cnc louvred. Specification of a car: (once you have completed a kit build up).

The chassis is epoxy powder-coated, all aluminium body panels are fully cut and trimmed to fit and will have been trial fitted to ensure compliance.Panels are fully trimmed and the rear cover is fitted to the chassis by Dzus fasteners. My customers seem surprised that I do all of this in the price. Under bonnet aero-deck (shiny polished mottled panels replacing standard aluminium panels) panels are an extra cost.
Ask me lots of questions.... But please don't ask if other engines can be fitted... They could by you, but I engineer solely for Moto Guzzi components.
